Weaving the Food Web: the People’s Summit for Urban Agriculture & Food Systems is an initiative of the Partnership for a Greater Louisville Food Council and Food Vision 2030, a coalition of organizations and individuals which FIN coordinates alongside Food Literacy Project, Change Today Change Tomorrow, Community Food Louisville, Presbyterian Hunger Program, and Community Farm Alliance. We need your support for this event to advance our Partnership’s key objectives.

During the People’s Summit, we will be taking important steps toward creating the Food Vision 2030, a multi-year strategic plan that evaluates the post-pandemic local food system landscape and identifies priorities for directing substantial public and private investment toward achieving more equitable and sustainable food systems. In addition, the event will advance our efforts to establish the Greater Louisville Food Council, a community-driven space for policy-making, implementation, and monitoring tasked with catalyzing community and government action to implement the Food Vision 2030.

The People’s Summit will begin on September 8 with half-day tours in the city, which will spotlight the crucial role of urban agriculture in achieving food security. The tours will also connect participants with community programs for healthy food access, farmer-to-farmer training, and emergency food assistance. A full day of participatory conference proceedings will then occur on September 9.

Through workshops and panel discussions, the full-day program will open space for the Partnership’s working groups to share information and gather timely community input on topics related to: food and land policy; food access, food supply, and infrastructure; education and training; and urban agriculture.
